SOLD - Paul Weyersberg, WWII Parachutist's knife - SOLD

$690.00

This knife was issued for use by German parachutists in WWII. The blade retracts in to the handle and is released by means of a catch on the side of it. The advantage was that the blade could be released with one hand, dropping into position under it's own weight when the catch was operated and locking into place. It also has a versatile pivoted spike, useful as a tool and a weapon. The blade is marked in oval "Paul Weyersberg, Soligen" and "Rostfri." The blade looks to have never been used. The British copied this design in 1943.
