Reindeer Antler Sheath Knife

From the arctic north comes this reindeer antler sheathed knife. Carbon blade is by the master smith, Altti Kankaanpaa. The handle is a mix of woods, reindeer antler and brass spacers. This is another knife that performs in the field and whose beauty can grace your collection. Altti Kankaanpaa, is one of the best known and appreciated knife makers in Finland. He was born in 1930 and started making knives in 1942 at age 12. His father who was born in 1904 was also a knife maker. Altti first learned from his father and since has had decades of experience making knives. His hand forged carbon steel blades are rugged looking from the forge. His hand crafted knives are easy to sharpen and re-sharpen for years of use for all kinds of tasks. These puukkos were originally made as basic working tools with no time wasted on unnecessary features. Altti was also chosen as an honored person of Kauhava, the knife making capitol of Finland. He is a warm hearted man with a vast knowledge of knife makers and knife making in Finland.
